Here, I have created Leaves and Branches to place onto two tree trunks created by Wynter Hill. This tree was our main tree in our game Greenies Adventure. I started off with simply modeling the branches, leaves, and placing the leaves onto those branches. I created a polygonal plane where I then baked the leaves/branches onto. Once baked, I placed the planes onto the tree trunks. I brought it into 3d substance painter, messed around with the opacity and got the branches/leaves to show up without the planes. Once finished, I altered the wood texture Wynter Hill created for the tree for the branches and created a leaf texture.
